Rights to Use MERLOT ELIXR Case Stories

Visitors to the ELIXR site can freely use the case stories with attribution to MERLOT ELIXR, the Department of Education Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education, the Office of the Chancellor, California State University, and the case story authoring team at the X institution (fill in the blank), see the ELIXR institution list for more information. This means that you can use the case stories as part of a workshop that carries a fee, in addition to faculty development efforts within your institution. You can choose excerpts from the case stories to be shown in a session, but to distribute copies or put the case stories on your own website, you would need to include the whole case and credit the creators.

Right to Copy and Distribute MERLOT ELIXR Case Stories

The MERLOT ELIXR Initiative endorses an "Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License" for copy and distribution of case stories. This allows for the case stories to be copied and distributed, e.g., on a CD provided beforehand to faculty attending a workshop (although many other uses are also then possible). The copies could not be sold for commercial gain (although the cost of reproduction could be recovered) and the case stories could not be altered and then distributed. Again, sponsorship for the MERLOT ELIXR Initiative should be credited to Department of Education Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education, the Office of the Chancellor, California State University, and the case story authoring team at the X institution (fill in the blank), see the ELIXR institution list for more information.
